Thorpe Bay Concert
A “BIGGER and better” community open air concert is coming to Thorpe Bay.
The bay’s lawn tennis club, in Thorpe Bay Gardens, is holding its second Summer Open Air Concert on June 22.
Organiser Terry Robertson said he hoped the event can go a small way to filling a small gap in Southend’s schedule of cultural events, now that the borough is missing its air show and the Priory Park Proms.
The event will feature performances from Southend’s Little Theatre Company and community choir Funky Voices.
Mr Robertson, head of social events at the club, said: “We did it last year for the first time to tie in with our centenary, it was successful considering the weather wasn’t very good, but we had around 150 people and we hope to have a lot more this year.
“We’ll have a barbecue and a bar and people can turn up with their picnic baskets and have a great evening. Hopefully we’ll have the weather on our side.”
The club does not make profits but money goes back into the club for use by members.
Tickets for the event are priced at £15 in advance or £20 on the day, but space is limited so booking is advised.
To book a ticket call Mr Roberston on 01702 586 002 or email terry.eileen@talk21.com.
Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.
