The first organised event was a Fun Quiz to raise money for the Castle Point Blind & Partially Sighted Club (The Triangle Club) who meet at Swans Green Hall. The event raised exactly £100, and this was passed over to a representative from the Club at the end of the evening.
Since that first event, other quizzes have been arranged and a total of £1439 has been raised for the St George’s Church Community Hall Fund and a Senior Citizens Club.
Coffee Mornings and Garden Fetes have been arranged for MacMillan Cancer Support with £1262 having been passed over to support their great work.
Two St George’s Nights have helped to support a Senior Citizens Club and the St George’s Church Community Hall fund. A total of £880 has so far been raised at these events.
The Community Focus objectives are three-fold:
a) To bring local people together in social activities and expand the community spirit
b) To increase the awareness of the support needed by local voluntary groups
c) To raise funds for local projects from the local community.
So it’s not Community Focus who are supporting the project, it’s the people of Castle Point.
Community Focus aim to arrange four events a year, and all of the income from ticket sales is passed on to the Community beneficiary at the end of the evening. There is no charge for the organisation of the event. Where appropriate a small raffle or tombola is included to cover the cost of hall hire.
Community Focus is available to help any local community project in Benfleet,
Thundersley or Hadleigh who would benefit from funding support.
New members to the Community Focus team are always welcome.
Arrangements are currently in hand to register Community Focus as a Small Charity.
So if you are involved with an organisation that needs funding support, or you would like to become a member of the Community Focus team
