Will Todd Choral Workshop
Location : Southend High School for Girls, Southchurch Boulevard, Southend, SS2 4UZ.Time: 11am
Date : Saturday 13th September.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s choral workshop led by composer and conductor, Will Todd for fans of choral singing, choir members and young singers.
This is a special chance to take part in a day of singing and working with a nationally-acclaimed conductor, choral trainer and composer.
Will Todd - one of the UK's best known choral composers - was commissioned in 2012 to compose an anthem for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee service in St Paul's Cathedral.
He will spend the day helping the singers learn new music, including excerpts from his popular "Mass in Blue" and other secular and sacred choral works.
The Council’s Head of Culture, Nick Harris said: “This is an excellent opportunity for all singers, both with and without experience, to enjoy a day of singing and choral training in an informal and fun way.
“It will increase their singing confidence to work with a well known composer. The event will finish with a short, informal performance for family and friends to attend.
“The Council has promoted an annual choral workshop for many years, attracting singers from across the Borough and beyond.
“All music will be provided on the day which costs just £12 - or £5 for singers under 21.”
